Odisha CM launches 100 drinking water Projects, 8 Aahar centres, City bus services in Koraput

Naveen PatnaikAffirming his commitment to develop the urban infrastructure and the inclusive growth of the urban areas, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has launched 100 new drinking water projects, 8 Aahar centres and Koraput-Sunabeda-Jeypore city bus services.

He declared the three new projects for the people of the state in an event held at the State secretariat.

The new drinking water projects were built with an estimated cost of Rs 30.71 crore. It would benefit around two lakh people in 46 urban areas of  21 districts in the state.

The Chief Minister also launched eight new Aahar centres.

Housing and Urban Development department had launched the programme in five municipal corporations on April 1, 2015 to provide cooked meal (rice and dalma) at Rs 5 per meal to the poor and needy people. It was meant particularly for patients, their attendants, construction workers, labourers, rickshaw pullers, auto drivers, street vendors and needy students visiting urban areas for different purposes.

Besides this, the city bus service for Koraput-Jeypore-Sunabeda in Koraput district has also been launched.

The bus service will be managed by a special purpose vehicle (SPV) called the Jeypore, Koraput, Sunabeda Urban Transport Trust (JKSUTT).

The busses will have CCTV cameras and public information system installed inside the bus.
