Odisha CM launches ‘Green Mahanadi Mission’

ONI Bureau: With aim to make the Mahanadi basis green, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday launched ‘Green Mahanadi Mission’, a massive plantation drive on the banks of Mahanadi river basin in Boudh.

The state government expected to plant more than 2 crore saplings over 41,000 hectares of land with an estimated Rs 500 crore in next five years. Similar initiatives will be undertaken on Ib and Tel rivers with an aim to keep the rivers clean, said an official.

As per report, the plantation drive including the Mango, Jamun and Jackruits trees will be taken place within one km radius of the banks on both sides of Mahanadi, Ib and Tel rivers.
