Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik felicitates Sprinter Dutee Chand

After a massive outrage over the state government’s apathetic attitude towards Dutee Chand and Srabani Nanda, as they represented Railways at the 55th National Open Athletics Championship in Kolkata, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik today felicitated Dutee.

Dutee Chand, who had a tough time following ban last year and could not participate at the Asian Games, bounce back strongly by winning triple gold at the National Meet. She won Gold medals in 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.

On the other hand, Srabani Nanda won 1 Gold in 4x100m relay and two silvers in 100m and 200m. Both represented Railways. Jauna Murmu represented Odisha and won a Silver. She was felicitated by the Chief Minister on September 21 in the presence of Sports Minister Sudam Marandi. Jauna had won the Silver in 400m Hurdles.

Dutee has sought a job and Rs 50 lakh assistance to get training in the United States for Rio Olympics. The CM has assured her all help. Let’s hope that he comes true to his words.
