Odisha CM suspends Former Kendrapara SP Satish Gajbhiye

The Odisha Government finally cracked the whip and suspended former Kendrapra SP Satish Gajbhiye for using excessive force against the demonstrators in the town during the agitation against Sarathi Baba. He was also found guilty of showing inappropriate behaviour towards the citizens and breaking All India Services Code by raising controversial maters on social media.

The decision to suspend Gajbhiye was taken on the basis of report submitted by IGP Central Range, RP Koche. A probe has already been ordered into the illegal properties of Gajbhiye’s wife. Gajbhiye has hidden those assets from the government.

After the police action near Barimula Ashram and Kendrapara town, Gajbhiye had been under fire. Although he was transferred immediately and posted as Officer without Duty, the BJP, Congress, Lawyers as well as common people sought strong action against him.

Gajbhiye sought to defend himself, by playing the communal card and justifying his action. It would be interesting to see whether he would move the court against the suspension or keep quiet, awaiting further action in this matter.

Meanwhile, the BJP has demanded his dismissal from her service and decided to continue with its plan to gherao DGP’s office tomorrow.
