Odisha CM visits Gangabada; enhances compensation money to Rs 10 lakh

ONI Bureau:  Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today visited Baraghara village under Gangabada Panchayat in Gajapati where 15 people died in a landslide that occurred due to cyclone Titli on October 11.

The CM increased ex gratia from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 10 lakh each for next of the kin of the persons who died in Cyclone Titli-related incidents. The entire Baraghara village will be shifted from the Hills and all 76 families will be provided Biju Pucca Ghar, informed the CM.

During his visit to Champapur in Gajapati district the CM distributed ‘patta’ to beneficiaries.

Naveen Patnaik also informed that his Government will take care of children who have lost their parents in Cyclone Titli.

Besides, the Chief Minister has directed officials to provide houses to all people under Biju Pucca Ghar yojana, who have lost their home in Cyclone Titli, informed Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi.

Padhi also informed that as many villages expressed their willingness to move from the hill top to different locations, new settlement will be declared with basic amenities such as Drinking water, Angan wadi, Schools, community centres and health facilities.
