Odisha Congress demands White Paper on Drought Situation

PCC-President-Prasad-Harichandan-droughtBhubaneswar, Oct 6: Alleging the state government of taking no action over the drought situation, Odisha Congress demanded White Paper on Monday. Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Prasad Harichandan addressing at a press conference here said that 23 district of the state were affected due to drought and the BJD government was busy in conducting Padayatra leaving farmers to their fate. He added that the state government has not taken any measures to tackle drought situation in these districts.

Harichandan said that the Padayatra by the government was just plea to diver the attention of the people and farms from the drought situation. He said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had asked reports over the drought that was not submitted yet by the officials. Five more farmers have committed suicide till date since the government convened review meeting on drought situation, he added.
