Odisha COVID19 Tests Gets Close to 50,000 Per Day

The COVID19 testing of Odisha is closing towards 50,000 daily, the State Government informed. On August 14, 47,887 tests were conducted which is the single day highest tests so far.

With a total tests of 40, 267, Kendrapara district is leading in terms of testing and control of the virus. The district has conducted 26,800 tests per million, way above the national average of   20,514 tests per million. The cumulative positivity rate is 1.95 per cent which is much below the National average of   8.89 per cent.

In Kendrapara, a total of 3099 tests were conducted on August 14. The tests per million per day is 1997, compared to 602 at the national level. The positivity is much less at 0.43 per cent.

Meanwhile, the positivity rate has also come down in the state. On July 21, approximately 10,000 tests were conducted and the number of COVID19 positive cases stood at 1078. The positivity rate was around 10.78 per cent. Over the next three weeks, the tests were increased by five times to nearly 50,000 and the number of positive cases stands at 2496 on August 14. The positivity rate has come down to around 5.2 per cent.
