Odisha DAV School Teachers barred from Private Tuition

DAV School teaches in the state have been barred from giving private tuition. They can neither give coaching at private tutorials nor conduct tuition at home to the students. As per the report submitted by Justice Mahapatra Committee and Right to Education (RTE) Act, the decision has been taken to check tuition menace in the state. A notification has been issued to all the DAV schools in Odisha in this regard and asked teachers to submit an undertaking by February 15.

Dr KC Satapathy, Regional Director DAV Institutions for Odisha Zone-I, said that in the undertaking, teachers should assure that they are not associated with any tutorials and not conducting any tuition at home. He added that stern action would be taken against teachers those found  guilty, even their service could be terminated.

It is noteworthy that, Section 28 of RTE Act prohibits schools teachers teaching at private tutorials, Section 16 and 17 prohibiting mental harassment and physical punishment to a students. Parents believe that now the tuition menace in the state would be controlled following issue of notification to the teachers barring from private tuition.
