Odisha declares 40 Tigers, 318 Leopards in State

tiger census in OdishaThe tiger census report has been released by the State Forest Department. It has been estimated that 40 numbers of tigers and 318 leopards have been spotted in Odisha.

The Odisha government has rejected the report of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), which had put the number of tigers at 28 in the State.

The 40 tigers, including 13 male, 24 female and 3 cubs have been found from several wild life divisions out of which 26 are found in Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR).

As many as 20,174 PIPs (Pug Impression Pads) and 448 trap cameras has been used by the forest staff to conduct the census.
