Odisha facing acute shortage of IAS Officers

IAS_indianbureaucracyOdisha is facing an acute shortage of Civil Servants as a number of Odisha-cadre IAS officers have retired in the past six months and many others are on central deputation.

Work flow has been adversely affected because the State government has entrusted one IAS officer with multiple assignments.

In addition to their original assignments, the state government has also given additional charge to four senior bureaucrats R Balakrishnan, Aditya Padhi, U N Behera and Ashok Tripathy for overseeing the development process of four backward districts – Nabarangapur, Malkangiri, Nuapada and Kandhamal.

More than 30 Odisha-cadre bureaucrats are working with the Union government or they are on the interstate deputation. The development commissioner R Balakrishnan is also serving as the additional chief secretary of the finance department.
