Odisha Farmers launch Satyagraha in Bhubaneswar

ONI Bureau:  In an attempt to press their demands, thousands of farmers near Lower PMG, Bhubaneswar sit on indefinite hunger strike ‘Satyagraha’ seeking immediate fulfillment of their longstanding demands including price, prestige and pension. Over one lakh farmers are expected to come to join the strike.

The State Government must come up with a budgetary allocation of Rs 21,600 crore to fulfill farmers’ demands of Rs 5,000 per month pension calculated for the last 20 years, said NNKS Coordinator Akshay Kumar, who led the protest.
