Odisha Forum to confer Prabasi Odia Samman to 6 eminent persons

ONI Bureau:  New Delhi-based think tank Odisha Forum to confer Prestigious Prabasi Odia Samman to 6 eminent persons during it’s annual function which will be held in New Delhi on July 13. This was informed by the Gokul Patnaik, President of Odisha Forum.

Mr Patnaik announced the name of 6 eminent persons who will receive Prabasi Odia Samman are (1) Dr Swarup Ranjan Mishra, a Member of Parliament from Kenya who is also a reputed doctor and social worker; (2) Dr Susmita Mohanty,Space entrepreneur, and designer; (3) Dr Pinaki Panigrahi, Doctor-scientist and pioneer in Public Health from USA;(4) Ms. Sharon Lowen, noted exponent of Odissi dance; (5) Ms.Nandita Das ,actor, thinker and activist and (6) Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, Agricultural Scientist and DG, ICAR.

The award will be given to these six eminent personalities in glittering function at PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, New Delhi which will be held on the occasion of Annual Function of Odisha Forum.Justice Dipak Misra, Hon’ble Chief Justice of India will be the Chief Guest at the function.

“The award function will be followed by a scintillating cultural programme including Inauguration of “Rasagola” – a musical offering by Ms Susmita Das and a wonderfully choreographed Odia play “Gunno Bai”. This is the story of a small town boy in a big city — haunted by an identity crisis, quashed between morality of an ideal father and a very immoral city life. The play is written and directed by Chittaranjan Tripathy, renowned film Director from Mumbai. The cast also includes some well-known Odia cine artistes,” added Mr. Pattnaik.

Along with President of Odisha Forum Mr. Patnaik the Press meet was attended by  Secretary Pradipta Kumar Sahoo, Senior Vice President Mr. Amarendra Khatua, Vice President Sanjeeb Mohanty, Adviser Ravi Pani and others.  Ms Susmita Das and Mr Chittaranjan Tripathy were also present in person at the press meet.
