Odisha gets Rs 5,252 Crore in Railway Budget 2018-19

ONI Bureau: The Ministry of Railways have confirmed that Odisha would get Rs 5,252 crore in the Railway Budget 2018-19 against Rs 5,102 crore in the previous year. In total, the East Coast Railways got Rs 6,563 crore out of which Rs 563 crore will be spent on electrification of all railway tracks in the region.

The Odisha Government had sought Rs 6,500 Crore this year. State Transport Minister Nrusingha Charan Sahu has expressed disappointment over the budgetary allocation, saying the Railways had provided just Rs 3,000 crore last year although they had announced Rs 5,102 crore.

The tweet of Railway Ministry says 36 ongoing projects costing Rs 43,751 crore for 4,750 km in length are already under execution in Odisha.

Rs 470 crore has been allocated for new railway lines, while Rs 150 crore will be spent on doubling of the track. Rs 103 crore has been allocated for traffic yard remodeling. Rs 58 crore will be spent on level crossing development.

The Railways have allocated Rs 245 crore on construction of over-bridges and under-bridges. Rs 850 crore has been allocated for railway line renewal.

While Rs 180 has been allocated for 3rd Rourkela-Jharsuguda railway line, Bandhamunda-Ranchi railway project got Rs 200 crore. Another Rs 200 crore has been allocated for Jharsuguda-Bilaspur rail line. Bandhamunda – Manoharpur railway line got Rs 100 crore.

Rs 150 crore has been allocated to Jeypore-Nabarangpur railway line and Rs 95 crore for Nabarangpur-Malkangiri railway line. Rs 300 crore has been allocated toTalcher-Bimalgarh railway line. For Khurda-Bolangir railway line, total allocation would be Rs 625 crore.
