Odisha Government cuts Bus Fare by One Paisa

Odisha bus fareState government has reduced the bus fare by one paisa per kilometre today in all categories. Considering the international slumping international oil prices, the central government reduced the price of petrol and diesel with effect from Tuesday midnight.

Odisha Transport Minister, Ramesh Maji said that state government has decided to cut the bus fare by one paisa per kilometre considering the cut in petrol and diesel prices. Majhi said that private bus owners have also support the government’s move to cut the bus fare. Bus owners urged the state government for an automatic fare adjustment mechanism.

On 22 December 2014, the government reduced bus fares by two paisa per kilometre considering the recommendation of the Technical Advisory Committee of the state road transport department. On November 5, 2014, the state government had cut the fares by one paisa per kilometer for ordinary and express buses and two paisa per kilometre in Deluxe and AC bus fare. For third time the state government reduced the bus fare by four paisa per kilometer following deceleration of oil prices in the international market.
