Odisha Government reduces Bus Fare by Two Paise

Odisha bus fareOdisha government today announced to cut bus fares by 2 paise per kilometre across all categories. This the second time cut in this month, on Feb 3, the bus fares cut by 1 paise per kilometre. Transport Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi told the government decided to cut the bus fares with immediate effect. The new rates would be effective from Feb 12.

Ordinary bus fares have come down to 57 paise/km from 59 paise, express bus fares to 60 paise/km, deluxe bus fares to 80 paise/km, and AC deluxe buses to 99 paise per kilometre from Re 1.01. On 22 December 2014, the government reduced bus fares by two paise per kilometre considering the recommendation of the Technical Advisory Committee of the state road transport department.

On November 5, 2014, the state government had cut the fares by one paisa per kilometer for ordinary and express buses and two paisa per kilometre in Deluxe and AC bus fare. The decision has been taken considering the slumping oil prices which led Oil companies to cut the price of diesel and petrol price.
