Odisha Government observes International Women’s Day

The Hon’ble Minister, Women and Child Development today inaugurated the State level event to observe International Women’s Day which was organised by the Deptt. of Women and Child Development Smt Usha Devi.

The guests in the event were the Minister of the Mission Shakti, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicraft and Scheduled Caste Welfare, Smt. Snehangini Chhuria; Chairperson State Commission for Women, Dr Lopamudra Buxipatra; Chairperson, Mahila Vikas Samabaya Nigam Ms. Shreemayee Sweta Snigdha Mishra, Sri Vishal Kumar Dev, Commissioner cum Secretary, Women and Child Development Department, and Sri R.P Singh, Director, Social Welfare.

In the function, 30 Anganwadi Workers were felicitated (one fromeach district) for their best Service for ICDS Programme. They are Manarani Gadanayak (Angul), Niyati Parida (Balasore), Sarojini Bhoi (Bargarh), Pravati Sahoo (Bhadrak), Ritanjali Barik (Bolangir), Sanjukta Dehury(Boudh), Chhabilata Behera (Cuttack), Puspanjali Sahu (Deogarh), Renubala Nath (Dhenkanal), B. Dashalu (Gajapati), G.Jyoshna (Ganjam), Baulata Dei (Jagatsinghpur), Smt. Dolli Swain (Jajpur), Chandrakanti Pradhan (Jharsuguda). Panjhari Suna (Kalahandi), Mamata Burgi (Kandhamal), Pranati Behera (Kendrapada), Sunaphula Nayak (Kendujhar), Sulekha Bhakat (Khordha), Jemamani Rout (Koraput), Rajalaxmi Samantray (Malkangiri), Manjulata Muduli (Mayurbhanja), Rashmita Swain (Nabrangpur), Robana Begam (Nayagarh), Kaushalya Bhoi (Nuapada), Pushpita Ghatuari (Puri), Sukanti Heprika (Rayagada), Padmasini Barik (Sambalpur), Bhagyabati Badi (Sonpur), Padmabati Sahu (Sundargarh).

An amount of Rs 5000.00 as cash award and certificate was presented to each of the Anganwadi worker. There was also a felicitation of three districts which have been adjudged as the best performing districts in implementation of ICDS and other related programmes. The districts are : Jagatsinghpur- Best performing District; Mayurbhanj 2nd best and Dhenkanal-3rd best.

Apart from felicitations, two Video Spots (developed by Doordarshan) on Development of Girl Child were released for Mass Public Awareness. Two Audio Spots and Two Audio Jingles (developed by All India Radio, Cuttack) on empowerment of Women were also released.

A cultural programme by Utkal Sangeeta Mahavidyalaya was also organised on women empowerment.
