Odisha government to provide free drinking water to all poor urban households

Naveen PatnaikOdisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday decided to provide free drinking water to all poor urban households. The decision was taken at a meeting on the prevailing water scarcity in the State.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradipta Kumar Mahapatra announced that the state government will spend about Rs 40 crore towards providing drinking water to all urban households.

The chief minister directed to dig at least one tube well in all 27,711 partially covered habitations in the state at a cost of Rs 195 crore.

All district collectors have been asked to take immediate steps to construct dams in the rivers so that it can be used by the people for bath and domestic animals will get water.
