Odisha Government to set up Six Advanced Skill Development Institutes

Governmnet have decided to set up six advanced skill development institutes (ASTIs) in the state under Odisha skill development project (OSDP). Out of this  4 ASTIs will be operational temporarily at ITI Campuses of Gandmunda, Bhubaneswar, JES, Jharsuguda, ITI, Rourkela and ITI, Bolangir in the first phase.

Notification to that effect has been issued by SD&TE Department. Similarly permanent campuses of three ASTIs, Jharsuguda at JES, Jharsuguda for ASTI, Rourkela at Government ITI, Rourkela have been notified.

According to Sri L.N. Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary, SD7TE the work for setting up of temporary campuses of these ASTIs will begin soon. These will work as “Finishing School” for the students of ITIs and Polytechnics in their respective catchment area. It may be mentioned that these are the pre-project activities for the ADB funded OSD Project, for which loan negotiations with ADB are likely to take place sometime during June, 2016.
