Odisha Government to spend Rs 30 crore on upgrading 8 Airstrips

Jeypore AirstripThe Odisha Government has decided to spend Rs 30 crore yo develop 8 airstrips in the state with high class infrastructure and facilities. In the first phase, Jeypore (Koraput) and Jamdarpali (Sambalpur) have been identified by the state government. Tender process has already begun for these two airstrips.

The decision to develop these airstrips, was taken by CM Naveen Patnaik at a high level meeting at the state secretariat. Apart from developing the airstrips, the matters of launch of international airlines operations from Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar and helicopter services to tourist and business destinations in the state, were discussed in the meeting.

The Running Light System and Advance Air Traffic Advisory System will be developed in all 8 airstrips.
