Odisha Govt approves to levy GST on Forest Produce

ONI Bureau: The State Cabinet on Wednesday reportedly approved a proposal to levy Goods and Services Tax (GST) on forest produce including wood, bamboo and kendu leaves, the minor forest produces (MFP).

Earlier, Odisha Government urged the GST council for exemption on tribal and handicraft products including woodwork, pattachitra, stone carvings, applique work, palm leaf etching, brass and dokra work, bell metal articles, terracotta crafts, santhal and saura paintings.

However, there was no official announcement on this decisions made at the Cabinet meeting, as the winter session of the State Assembly is underway.
