The Government of Odisha has genearated around 55,000 jobs through new Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by September this year, said an official on Sunday.
The State government has set a target to create employment opportunities for 4 lakh youth by setting up 1.5 lakh small industries by 2018-19.
Earlier, the MSME Minister Jogendra Behera said that the department would set up 36,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in 2016-17.
Behera called upon the youth to inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship which will directly give a boost to the MSME sector for self-employment and income generation.
The department claimed that more than 50,000 small industries had been established in 2015-16.
