Odisha Govt serves 15-day Ultimatum to ineligible Ration Car Holders

CM-Naveen-Patniak-NFSA-Ration-CardsBhubaneswar, Jan 2: Taking serious note over the irregularities in the list of beneficiaries in National Food Security Act (NFSA), Odisha government has given 15-day ultimatum to ineligible ration card holders to surrender their cards.

The state government has warned of taking criminal proceedings against ineligible ration card holders as well as government officials those were supporting the ineligible NFSA beneficiaries.

Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Kumar Das Burma said that the state government is giving 15 days time to ineligible people to surrender their ration cards to avoid action.

While, the opposition parties, BJP and Congress slammed the BJD government for its failure in preparing list of real beneficiaries under the NFSA scheme.

The NFSA goof-up has become a matter of concern for ruling BJD in the state, which drawn flak from all quarters for its failure in preparing NFSA beneficiaries list. Notably, Cuttack Mayor Anita Behera had quit after her name was found in the list of NFSA beneficiaries.

BJP president K.V. Singh Deo blamed the state government for not taking action against ineligible ration card holders. He lampooned the ruling BJD for giving extra time to ineligible card holder to return their cards.
