Odisha Govt to decide on ‘State Song’ status for ‘Bande Utkala Janani’ soon

ONI Bureau:  A day after voices demanding State Song status to ‘Bande Utkala Janani’ grow rapidly as eminent persons and odia lovers staged protest and rally across the State, the Tourism & Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda on Saturday said to media persons that all have high respect for the song & Odisha Govt will review status of ‘State Song’ declaration by other States and will take a suitable decision in this regard soon.

The opposition BJP and Congress also criticised the Chief Minister for not notifying ‘Bande Utkala Janani’ as state anthem of Odisha.

Notably, the politics over “notification” has intensified after the CM requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to officially recognise Hockey as the national game of India.
