Odisha Govt to launch Own Food Security Scheme from Oct 2

ONI Bureau: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patanik on Saturrday announced Odisha’s own Food Security Scheme that will be implemented from October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti) this year.

State’s own Food Security Scheme will cover nearly 34.44 lakh people who have been left out under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).

Patnaik through a video message on Saturday said that the State government in 2014 had announced special measures for ensuring food security of the people as lots of our eligible beneficiaries have been deprived of the National Food Security Act this year.

The State Government implemented Re 1 per kg rice scheme for the people living below poverty line (BPL) as well as Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, disabled and beneficiaries of the Antyodaya scheme from 2013.
