Odisha Govt to set up 35 Cold Storages in Current Fiscal Year

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in MeetingBhubaneswar, Oct 27: In order to make the state self-sufficient in tuber production, Odisha government will set up 35 cold storages in the current financial year. The government is planning to set up 112 cold storages in next three years.

This information was shared in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Monday. This will be another big measure to boost tuber production in the state. Odisha government has implemented Potato Mission in the current fiscal year setting target of 11.25 lakh MT tuber production by 2017-18 by cultivating on 60,000 hectares land. Currently, Odisha has been producing 2.5 MT potatoes. However, the state requires 10 lakh MT . Officials believe that the state would achieve the target by 2017-18 under the mission.
