Odisha Govt to set up Adarsha Vidyalaya for ST students at Palur Hill

studentsOdisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday laid foundation stone of Biju Patnaik Adarsha Vidyalaya, a residential school for scheduled tribe (ST) students at Palur Hill in Rangeilunda block of Ganjam district.

The Adarsha Vidyalaya will be managed by the SC&ST development department which will provide quality education to around 3,000 students from Class VI to XII.

Odisha government has sanctioned Rs 45-crore for this year and the district administration has provided 20 acres land for it. Government planned to construct an academic block, hostel building, staff quarters, playground and boundary wall.

It is to be noted that, Odisha government has already established 100 model schools affiliated to the CBSE in each of the 100 blocks.

SC&ST development department Director R C Sia said that these 100 model schools started functioning from April under the School and Mass Education Department.

The proposed Biju Patnaik Adarsha Vidyalaya, a residential school for scheduled tribe (ST) students in Rangeilunda block of Ganjam district is different from other Adarsha Vidyalaya as it is exclusively meant for ST students.
