Odisha Govt to spend Rs 65 Lakh to improve Bhubaneswar Traffic

Traffic Checking in BBSRThe Government of Odisha has sanctioned Rs 65 lakh to upgrade traffic management in the capital city of Bhubaneswar. The sanctioned money will be spent on purchasing of modern devices and other necessary purposes.

The main traffic junctions of the temple city need to be improved since the city has rapidly expanded with a number of vehicles touching nearly 10 lakhs. Commuters often get confused when the electronic signal system goes out of order, creating multiple difficulties for the smooth movement of vehicles.

The shortage of manpower in traffic police is the biggest hurdle to manage the traffic. In order to compensate the shortage of traffic manpower, police has suggested a proposal to engage college students who can assist the traffic personnels in their free time and can earn some money, said commissioner of police Y B Khurania.
