Odisha Govt to upgrade Capital Hospital to Post Graduate Institute

odisha-govtBhubaneswar, Aug 14: Govt has taken up the proposal for upgrading the capital hospital to a post graduate institute. This has been discussed in a high level meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Sri Gokul Chandra Pati in Secretariat conference hall today wherein Principal Secretary Health & Family Welfare Smt Arati Ahuja tabled the proposal and outlined the issues for discussion. Considering the proposal, Chief Secretary has directed the Secretary Works Sri N.K. Pradhan, present in the meeting to take a field survey of the existing capital hospital area and prepare a master plan at the earliest.

Replying to a media quarry after the meeting Principal Secretary Smt Ahuja said that the upgradation project will be financed by State Govt and the amount of funds required will depend on the approved architectural plan. Available data shows as per MCI guidelines around 25 acres of land are required for PG institute for admission of 50 students in the first phase. Other infrastructural requirements include academic building of 18,800 sq mt., administrative building and 200 seated hostel.

Development Commissioner Sri Upendra Nath Behera, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Sri R. Balakrishnan, Principal Secretary GA Sri G.V.V. Sharma, Secretary Women & Child Development Sri Saswat Mishra along with other senior officers of concerned departments participated in discussion.
