Odisha Illegal Mining: SC asks firms to pay 100% penalty

ONI Bureau:  The Supreme Court of India on Wednesday rejected petition of mining leaseholders in Odisha operating without environmental clearance, asked them to pay 100% penalty by December 31 otherwise stop mining activities.

To prevent illegal mining activities in other parts of India, earlier the Apex court instructed that the exercise relating to the mineral policy should be completed by December 31.
