Odisha launches Pilgrimage Scheme for Senior Citizens

Odisha government announced ‘Pilgrimage Scheme’ for senior citizens on Thursday. The Chief Minister gave his nod to the scheme that will avail pilgrimage facility to elderly people of the state. The Naveen government has fulfilled another promise that it made in the 2014 election manifesto before assuming the power.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that state tourism department will be the nodal department for the implantation of the pilgrimage scheme. He chaired a meeting in this regard on Thursday.

Under this scheme, people aged 60 and above are eligible to visit various religious places across the country in train and bus with government assistance. The state government will bear travel, food and living expenditure and provide free healthcare to them.
