Odisha Man Who Crossed Into Pakistan Returns Home

Birju Kulu, who was lodged in Pakistan jail for 20 years returned home on Friday. Birju had mistakenly crossed into Pakistan and was imprisoned in Lahore jail.

A team of officials from the district administration went to bring him back from Amritsar, where he was staying after testing positive for COVID-19.

Birju was working at a hotel in Ranchi and had crossed the border from Amritsar as he was reportedly mentally unstable.

He was arrested and sentenced to 20 years which ended in October.

Birju’s parents died while he was in prison. He only sister is alive.
