Odisha: OPCC Chief to meet 12 “Rebel” Congress MLAS on July 30

Prasad Harichandan- Odisha Congress ChiefOdisha Congress Pradesh Committee (OPCC) chief Prasad Harichandan will meet all 12 “rebel” Congress MLAs on July 30 to listen to their grievances and address all issues. The MLAs led by Chiranjib Biswal had recently visited New Delhi to meet the High Command and Rahul Gandhi.

Prasad Harichandan, in a desperate bid to curb dissidence within the party and bring everyone on the same page, will meet all MLAs in the presence of Opposition Leader Narasingh Mishra.

While senior Congress leader Lulu Mohapatra claimed that the 12 MLAs had gone to Delhi to complain against the party’s Chief Whip Taraprasad Bahinipati and seek his ouster, Chiranjib Biswal sought to put up a volt face and said that they did not report against anyone. “The wrong message is being spread by some vested interests to defame the party and demoralise the cadres”, he said.

However, Lulu Mohpatra retorted, saying three of those 12 MLAs had called him up to tell the reason behind their Delhi visit. Ironically, Prasad Harichandan is yet to make a statement on this issue.
