Odisha: Police DG reviews Maoist infested districts

Odisha policeKoraput Jan 16: State police DG K.B. Singh paid a visit to Koraput and made his review on Maoist movement and operation. ADG cum special Director Intelligence Arun Kumar Sadangi, IG operation Soumendra Priyadarshi and ADG cum Director intelligence Sunil Roy accompanied him in this visit.

About 1 pm on Friday DG landed at BSF helipad at Koraput and took a visit to the SOG Jawan’s training school at Deulmunda village near Koraput. Then he arrived at south western range DIG’s office and joined the review meeting along with the officers came along with him.

In the meeting top officials from CRPF-COBRA, BSF and SOG team were present. South western range DIG S. Saini along with SPs of five districts Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Nuapada, Kalahandi were also present in the meeting.

As per sources, some new strategies to defend the Maoist movement in the naxal-infested districts have been discussed. Also in the meeting the coordination between Odisha police and central armed forces were discussed in detail. Intelligence sharing with the armed forces of neighboring states and central armed forces were emphasized more, as per sources.

It is believed that after the killing of two BSF Jawans by extremists near Ramgiri and on January 8th and one civilian at Dandabadi state police is on action mood. So this review was to strengthen the force and to intensify the counter ops.

“2015 year was quite satisfactory and we have got lots of success in Maoist operation in these regions that desperate the extremists for which they are killing the innocent tribal. So to defend them and to protect the people we are going to intensify the Maoist operation in this belt” said police DG K.B. Singh.”

After the review the team of officials flew to Malkangiri to review the status of Maoist moment and operation status in the district.
