Odisha Police has decided to scale up computerization of police stations under the Crime Criminal Tracking and Networking System (CCTNS) project. The project is being implemented under the national e-governance initiative at a cost of Rs 61 crores, informed by DGP R.P. Sharma today.

“We are now shifting from intranet to internet. Especially in those areas where connectivity is a problem, we will go for internet with all security features so that security doesn’t become a problem,” Sharma said.

As per a report of the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), out of 612 police stations, 589 are now connected online to the State Data Center at Bhubaneswar and all FIRs are being drawn through the computer system. The remaining 23 police stations yet to be connected are mainly Marine Police Stations and Energy Police Stations which are in the process of being established.
