Odisha receives unprecedented rainfall in 2 Days

ONI Bureau: The unprecedented rains over the last two days, have shattered all records in Odisha. Even it surpassed the rainfall received during the Super Cyclone in 1999 and Phailin in 2013.

Barang in Cuttack district, which had received 60mm rainfall in 1999, recorded 205mm rainfall this year in two days. Similarly, Jatni block in Khordha district, which received 213mm rainfall in 1999, recorded 255mm rainfall this year. Brahmagiri, Delang, Pipili in Puri district have recorded 293mm, 245mm, 240mm rainfall respectively this year.

Bhubaneswar and Puri also received much higher rainfall as compared to Cyclone Phailin in 2013. The Hirakud Dam area in Sambalpur district recorded 622mm rainfall today. It’s the highest-ever rainfall received by any place in Odisha in a single day. It broke the previous record of 581.9mm rainfall received by Sambalpur in August 1982.
