Odisha relaxes lockdown 2.0 rules

Post the mitigation of restrictions on several sectors as per the revised guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Odisha government is preparing for relaxation of few of its own lockdown rules, in lines with the union. From April 20 onwards, along side agriculture and allied activities, the MHA guidelines have also allowed construction works in various sectors during lockdown 2.0. Following the new instructions issued by the Centre, a standard operating procedure (SOP) for the workers engaged in such activities have been issued by the Odisha government.

The SOP issued by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) allows contractors and construction companies to work but also instructs them to monitor the health of the workers in view of the heatwave condition in the State. The employers are bound to ensure that the labourers follow the social distancing protocols at the construction sites and the wearing of masks is made mandatory.

Pradeep Jena, the additional Chief Secretary and SRC, in his letter, has ordered the department heads, Revenue Divisional Commissioners (RDCs) and the Collectors to ensure adherence to the SOP in construction sites.
