Odisha Signs MoU With Arcelor Mittal To Set Up Steel Plant In Kendrapara

Odisha Government, on Thursday, signed an MoU with Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel India Limited to set up an Integrated Steel Plant and Riverine port in Kendrapara. The signing was done in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Lakshmi Mittal, Chairman, Arcelor Mittal.

The 12MTPA steel plant will be set up in Kendrapara district at an investment of Rs 50,000cr.

Earlier in the day, Lakshmi Mittal had met CM Patnaik at his residence. He had also met Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan a couple of days ago.

In 2013, Arcelor Mittal had signed an MoU with the Odisha Government, for setting up a plant in Keonjhar. But, the largest steel maker in the world back out citing land hurdles.
