Odisha starts Induction Training Programme on Good Governance

odisha-good-governanceBhubaneswar, Sept 14: In another step towards good governance, Govt has started Induction Training Programme to train the officers in cutting edge level for quality delivery of services. A two day training programme of the Trainers was inaugurated by Chief Secretary Sri Gokul Chandra Pati in the training hall of Gopandhu Academy of Administration (GAA) here today.

In his inaugural address Sri Pati advised the trainers to focus on capacity enhancement of the officers at cutting edge level through knowledge updating and attitudinal changes in them towards public service and people’s need. Sri Pati also added that training cannot be one time input. Training be imparted continuously through adoption of distant learning technologies. Chief Secretary advised the Govt officers to understand the objectives of various rules and laws, appreciate the need of the people, effectively communicate with them and deliver them the services in time utilizing whatever resources are available at hand.

Presenting the key note address, Director General ( DG) of Gopabandhu Academy of Administration Dr Taradatt said, the main objectives of the programme are to build desired capacity in State Govt functionaries in the cutting edge level, promote good governance, citizen-centricity and public service delivery. Around 25 officers from Chhatisgarh and 30 officers from Odisha participated in this two day Trainers Training Programme. The DG said that these trainers after completing the training from GAA will move to various districts and train the officers in the cutting edge level.

Sri Pramod Kumar Das Joint Secretary Department of Personnel & Training , Govt of India and  Former Information Commissioner Sri Jagadananda joined the inaugural session as Resource Persons and imparted training to the trainers. Sri Pravat Ranjan Giri Officer on Special Duty, GAA presented the welcome address in the inaugural session. The training programme is being organized under the joint aegis of Central and State Governments.
