Odisha Teachers postpone strike till December 1

Teachers-Strike-OdishaInsight Bureau: While the Odisha Primary Teachers’ Association and Odisha Sikshya Sahayak Association called of their strike following assurance from School & Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra, another group of teachers continues to be on dharna, leading to confusion.

There will be a meeting between the representatives of Teachers and Government officials on November 13. The demands of the teachers will be discussed at another high powered meeting on November 17.  The teachers have warned that they would resume their strike from December 1 if their demands are not met.

The teachers had been on a strike, demanding hike in grade pay from Rs 2,200 to Rs 2,800. The Odisha Government was under pressure ahead of Children’s Day celebrations on November 14, as CM Naveen Patnaik is coming up with his own version of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ for school children.
