Odisha To Begin River Cruise To Boost Tourism

To boost tourism prospects in the state, Odisha Chief Secretary has directed the Tourism Department to begin river cruise soon in PPP mode. CS Asit Tripathy held a meeting with stakeholders to explore the possibility in this regard on Thursday.

“River cruising itself is compatible with Covid-19 restrictions. There is a huge scope and latent market for world Class River cruising in Odisha. “

“It can also be connected with many eco-spots and refill the economic activities in the sector,” he added.

Odisha is mulling at three principal river cruise circuit for development – Mahanadi river, Chilika Lake and in waterways in Dangmala reserve forest, Tourism Secretary Vishal Dev stated.

Bhitarkanika circuit in the Dangmala reserve forest can connect destinations like Chandbali-Aradi-Dhamara-Khola on a six-day and five-nights cruise.

Chilika circuit can link Chilika, Kalijai-Nalabana- Honeymoon island, Mangalajodi-Satapada-Rajhans island-Satapada and Puri on a three-night and four-day cruise.
