Odisha to implement Food Security Act from October 1, 2015

The Odisha Government has decided to implement the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013 from October 1, 2015. It was confirmed by Food & Consumer Affairs Secretary Madhusudan Padhi today. List of the beneficiaries would be published by August 1.

At least 1.04 crore families in Odisha have been enrolled into the National Food Security Act scheme. In total, 3.93 crore people will be benefited from it.

Earlier yesterday, Odisha Food & Consumer Affairs Minister Sanjay Dasburma had requested the centre to increase the rice coverage to 4.73 lakh inmates of the SC/ST hostels in the state.
