Odisha urges Centre to reconsider Jauna Murmu for Rio Olympics

The Odisha Sports Minister Sudam Marandi has requested the Union Minister of Sports regarding the Odia sprinter Jauna Murmu , who was excluded from the Rio Olympics despite qualifying for the grand event in 4X400 metre relay event.

Jauna has also participated in many international events and Commonwealth games. Her dismissal from Rio Olympics was really injustice.  So, the Sports Minister has requested the Union Minister to consider her plea at the earliest.

Murmu met various officials in the Secretariat on Tuesday and she is hopeful that the state government will definitely help her.  All the Ministers and the Secretaries had assured to give full support as the Olympics is coming closer.

Earlier she was selected for the Rio Olympics in the 4X400 metre relay event and had qualified in two international meets in Turkey and Poland. She was in the National team but unfortunately the selectors excluded her name from the team in the final selection.
