Bhubaneswar, Aug 25: Odisha government said that there are as many as 86 vacancies waiting to be filled at various courts including Orissa High Court in the state. It was revealed by Law minister Arun Sahoo in reply to a question raised by BJP MLA Dilip Ray in Odisha Assembly.
Sahoo said that in Orissa High Court, 5 posts of Judge were lying vacant and it has 22 working judges. In the state, 37 district judges, 22 senior civil judges, 11 civil judges and 11 independent divisional magistrate posts were remain vacant in courts, he added.
Considering the pending cases in all the courts of Odisha, 391 judges are required to dispose the cases. Out of this, 86 posts of judges are lying vacant in the state, he said.
He said that total number of pending cases at various courts including Orissa High Court stood at 12,95,881. As many as 1,70,597 cases – 1,34,510 civil and 36,087 criminal – are pending in the Orissa High Court, minister added
