Odisha’s Economic Growth rate declines to 7.14% from 7.94%

ONI Bureau:  Odisha’s Economic growth rate has declined to 7.14% from 7.94%, revealed the Economic Survey Report 2017-18, which was tabled in the Odisha Assembly today.

Odisha has registered a Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth rate of 7.94% in 2016-17 while it is estimated to grow at 7.14% in 2017-18 though it managed to surpasses all India growth rate of 6.5%.

The share of agriculture has declined to 20% from 60% in the 1960s and there was a need for continued policy priority for agriculture, especially in its allied sectors, the report stated.

The report said that service sector has contributed 38.54% in 2011-12 which increased to 45.22% in 2017-18 and the per capita income of the state during 2017-18 is likely to touch the level of Rs 92,727.
