Odissi Dance included in B-Tech Curriculum at IIT-Bhubaneswar

Just a few days ago, we received the welcome news that IIT-Bhubaneswar has included Odissi Dance in its B.Tech curriculum. Many students have already enrolled into the course. IIT Bhubaneswar became the first IIT in the county to introduce Dance as a B.Tech subject.

Odissi exponents Kumkum Mohanty and Illiana Citaristi have been entrusted with task of preparing the subjects of course and examination pattern. At least 10 girls have already opted for Odissi, according to IIT-Bhubaneswar sources.

Odissi will be an elective subject. It would be one of the ‘breadth’ course of maximum 12 credits during the four years B.Tech studies. Students, who opt for it, will have to give 5 hours a week for the study.
