OERC hikes Power Tariff in Odisha by 20 paise Per Unit

The Odisha Electric Regulatory Commission (OERC) has fixed the power tariff for 2015-16 with a hike of 20 paise for unit for all types of domestic consumers. The monthly rental and meter rent have been kept unchanged.

The Agriculture Sector took a heavy beating, as the OERC raised the power tariff there by 40 paise per unit. The hike in farm sector took place first time after 15 years.

The OERC has attributed the hike in power tariff to rise in coal prices and change in Central Electric Regulatory Commission (CERC) directives recently.
