Oil Ministry helps develop Sports in India: Dharmendra

ONI Bureau: Union P&NG Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who was at the Kalinga Stadium to cheer the Indian Hockey Team that eventually won the Bronze medal in Hockey World League 2017, hailed the role played by Petroleum Ministry in the development of Sports in the country.

“The oil major ONGC had extended all its support to the recently concluded Hockey World League 2017 in Bhubaneswar. The Centre will extend further support so that the Kalinga Stadium hosts more Hockey matches and athletics championships,” he added.

Dharmendra Pradhan hailed the efforts of Odia players in Sports, saying 6 players from the state, including sprinters Dutee Chand and Srabani Nanda were part of Rio Olympics.

“The Modi Government has decided to celebrate 2018 as ‘The Year of Sports’. Special schemes have been formulated to develop sports infrastructure and provide assistance to players. The Petroleum Ministry will extend all support to Odisha Government under this initiative,” he assured.
