Ollywood Actress Aparajita Mohanty quits Congress; may join BJP

ONI Bureau: In a huge setback to Odisha Congress ahead of Bijepur by-poll, Veteran Ollywood actress Aparajita Mohanty resigned from the party on Tuesday. Speculation is rife that she will join the saffron party soon.

Aparajita had joined the Congress party just ahead of 2014 General Elections. Reportedly, her grandfather Abdul Sohan Ali Khan was a former law minister of the state and a Congress activist.

Recently, Ollywood stars like Mihir Das, Anu Choudhury and Mahasweta Ray joined BJP. The entry of the celebrities is expected to strengthen the party as PM Modi called for strengthening the BJP at its roots for a win in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
