OLM Scam worth Rs 1.59 crore alleged in Nabarangpur District

OLM-JharigamA group of social activists led by Parama Panda of Jharigam block in Nabarangpur district have filed a complaint at Nabarangpur police station against ORMAS Director Sasmita Mohanty in relating to an alleged irregularity of over Rs 1.59 crore in Odisha Livelihood Mission (OLM).

According to an RTI report, Rs. 1,59,52000.00 (One crore fifty-nine lakh and fifty-two thousand rupees) was distributed to 14 producer groups in different villages of Jharigam block in the name of training and business purposes.

However, it is alleged that the groups are working on pen and paper only with fake positions. The villagers are unaware of such producing groups being existed in their villages. The RTI report also revealed that Rs 80,00000.00 (Eighty lakh) has been credited to a local businessman’s personal bank account from Jharigam SBI branch in this connection.

It is to be noted that producer groups are being organized and offered financial support by the government agencies through the Odisha Livelihood Mission (OLM) in order to create employment opportunities and empower the rural people.
