One woman assaulted over land dispute by men in Oldtown, Bhubaneswar

Odisha’s Capital’s law and order in question again. Horrific pictures have been shown of a woman being assaulted by five men in broad daylight, in Oldtown.

Name of the woman is Sabita Sethi. Sethi is 38 years old. She has complained at the Sri Lingaraj police station in this matter today.
The video footage of the horrifying incident took place on Tuesday in front of the victim’s house at Bindu Sagar Road in Old Town area which is under the jurisdiction of Sri Lingaraj police.

The video depicts 5-6 persons hitting the woman; throwing blows and kicks on her while she is seen running towards her house.

The complaint is as follows:

“On Tuesday at around 5.15 PM, Sabita Sethi accompanied by her husband had gone to drop her younger son at his tutor’s place. Sethi’s daughters (2) were at her house. Some drunk men, allegedly the members of the local Tarang Club, screamed abuses and threw stones at her home over an old dispute.”

Sethi has alleged that on arriving home, she confronted the men namely-Kuna Panda, Babul, Pratap Mahapatra, Prakash Panda, Umesh Mahapatra, Jhulia Garabadu and other. She asked them to stop. However, they did not comply and hit her while hurling abuses on her.

Sri Lingaraj police station Inspector In-Charge Sarat Chandra Patra informed that two persons have been detained under the incident, while further investigation is underway.

As per Local sources, Sethi’s family has a land dispute with Tarang Club.
